Coffee, Chaos and Custody: Another day for the Piccadilly Gardens Team |
||
The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team have made three arrests during a proactive patrol in the city centre today, tackling offences ranging from breach of bail to anti-social behaviour.
Officers were carrying out routine patrols in and around Piccadilly Gardens when they identified a man wanted for breaching his bail conditions. The individual, who is well known to officers, was detained swiftly by PC Duffy and taken into custody without incident.
Shortly afterwards, the team located another man who was wanted on recall to prison. Despite an attempt to blend into the busy crowds, PC Marothi quickly recognised him and effected a safe arrest.
Later in the patrol, officers encountered three men involved in disorderly conduct linked to anti-social behaviour legislation. Following repeated warnings, one of them was arrested to prevent further disturbance in the area by PC Cross.
Members of the public praised the officers for their professionalism and quick action. One local business owner commented that the visible police presence has made “a real difference” to the atmosphere in the Gardens.
While the operation was conducted efficiently and without drama, one officer noted with a smile that “there’s never such a thing as a quiet day in Piccadilly Gardens.”
All arrested individuals remain in police custody as further enquiries are carried out.
